These thermometers are economical but work well. We use them in hot liquor tanks, mash tuns particularly if the wort is being circulated and boilers especially when using an immersion chiller.

The shorter 2" probe thermometer is more often used in mash tuns with false bottoms because the shorter probe allows the false bottom to be removed. The 2" probe may be a better option for immersion chillers if the 6" gets in the way of the chiller.
