Our ArtisanAle wort kits are made in house on a Speidel 500L Braumeister Brewery, they are all grain and brewed true to style. They are especially suited to time poor brewers or those who simply want an excellent beer with a minimum of effort.
NOTE: This kit was designed not be diluted with water unlike most of our other kits. If you would like a beer that is lighter in alcohol you add 3 litres and still have an awesome beer.
Scott Trainor won best of show at the 2018 Westgate Brewers Stout
Extravaganza with this Porter. He helped us make it a wort kit so we
can all enjoy one.
The OG is 1.068 with 50 IBU of bitterness. Scott made this Porter
at this gravity undiluted. It features lots of flaked oat and crystal,
also a good dose of Chinook pellets for flavour. You will get a pack
of dry hops to be put in toward the end of fermentation.
Scott recommends 2 packs Wyeast 1028 or you could culture up
with a starter. Scott fermented his at 18 Deg. C. in primary then added the dry hops to secondary. Scott crashed chilled for 4 or 5 days at about 1 Deg. C. A good choice for dry yeast is 2 packs of Nottingham.
Approximate cube volume: 16.5L.Starting Gravity: 1.058 Bitterness: 50 IBU's.Late hops: Chinook and Simcoe.Recommended yeasts: Wyeast 2 x 1028, or 2 x Nottingham dry yeast packs.
